How long do the effects of a Reiki session last?

Q: How long do the effects of a Reiki session last?

A: It depends. In my experience, the factor that most influences how long one should go between Reiki treatments is the state of the person when the first session was received. In other words, if you are fairly well in general, a Reiki session might last a couple weeks to a month. If you are suffering from illness or chronic pain, or are in emotional distress (depression, high anxiety, etc.), Reiki healings will be most beneficial if they are given more frequently.

More frequently can mean daily, a couple times per week, once a week, or once every two weeks. Let me give you some examples:

  • When my kids are sick, I give them Reiki several times per day for short periods of time. I want to give them the chance to receive as much healing as possible to help them be more comfortable so their bodies can do the work of healing effectively. The energy helps relieve pain, alleviate symptoms, relax them so they can sleep, and strengthens their immune system so it can function more effectively to make them well again.
  • When someone comes to me with a chronic or severe issue, I usually recommend a series of healings – five sessions in two weeks. We do three the first week and two the second week. This tends to effectively set in motion a healing process that has a cumulative effect each time. The close proximity of the sessions helps create a strong healing effect that has a lasting impact.

  • If one of my friends or family members has some stress, or a sore shoulder, for example, one session will generally make enough of a difference to last a few weeks.

So a Reiki how long the effects of a Reiki healing session lasts is relative to the amount of need for healing.
