Q: Can you receive too much Reiki energy?
A: No. A person only receives as much as needed, regardless how many treatments he or she gets. Think if yourself as a glass with a certain amount of liquid or, in this case, energy inside. You receive Reiki, which brings the level of energy up to the top. What happens to any more energy that would flow? It would spill over and wash away.
The energy strives to bring you into balance. Balance happens when you have received the energy you need, where you need it. Balance occurs on physical, emotional and spiritual levels. We are integrated beings so all systems affect each other. So when pain is decreased, the emotional balance increases too – we feel more positive. When positive emotional energy is received and negative is released, not only do we feel happier, our physical health improves. And the opportunity to experience the soothing effects of the healing helps us place our attention on our intuition, which also benefits by helping us feel spiritually connected – knowing that we are connected to All That Is helps us feel supported and comforted.
Sometimes people feel a little spacey after Reiki treatments. Other times a person may experience some physical or emotional effects after Reiki which indicate that shifts and clearing are going on as a part of the healing process. These are not “overdoses” on Reiki, but instead are changes for the better. Think of these changes, called “clearing symptoms” as a detox, similar to doing a dietary detox program. Healing involves changes, and these changes are often present after Reiki healings.
So the bottom line is: no harm comes from receiving Reiki, and one cannot receive too much Reiki energy during a treatment.
