What is Reiki?

For our first Reiki Question and Answer of the Day, let’s start with the basics.

Q: What is Reiki?

A: Reiki is an energy healing technique which uses “universal life energy” channeled through the practitioner to the recipient, balancing the subtle energies within the body. Reiki addresses physical, emotional, mental and spiritual imbalances.
Reiki (pronounced Ray-key) is a Japanese word consisting of two words Rei and Ki meaning spiritually guided life energy (commonly known as Universal Life Energy), an energy which animates us all and is found all around us.

Reiki does not require belief in order to be effective. Being open to trying Reiki is all you need.
Comment:
If you think that the idea of Reiki sounds like it couldn’t be real, I encourage you to try it first. Let your experience teach you your truth. Most of us grow up experiencing the world through our basic five senses, so we believe that those are what we have as our means for interpreting the sensory input that comes at us all day long. We haven’t learned to pay attention to the subtle sensations of energy. Reiki is something that anyone can learn to feel and when you recognize how Reiki feels to you, an entire new sense awakens to help you understand the world and your connection to everyone and everything. You learn that there are many ways to reduce stress, relieve pain, and help feel better emotionally and physically. If you learn to do Reiki, you learn to channel this energy for yourself and for others, and you are able to sense the way we are all connected, no matter how far we are from each other physically. It’s an awakening for sure.
